Product Description

Fresh mushrooms contain a high amount of moisture and are highly perishable after harvesting. Drying is therefore an important processing method for extending shelf life, reducing transportation weight, and creating dried mushroom products for storage, further processing, or food preparation.

The MDXH series Electric Heating Mushroom Dryer uses electric heating elements to generate heat and fans to circulate hot air inside the drying chamber. The continuous circulation of heated air transfers heat to the mushroom material and gradually removes moisture.

Four models are available: 30-tray, 60-tray, 90-tray, and 120-tray configurations. The different heating capacities and internal loading spaces allow the equipment to serve different production scales.

The larger models are equipped with dedicated trolleys, making it easier for operators to load and unload multiple trays. This is particularly useful for commercial mushroom processing facilities where repeated batch loading and unloading are required.

Compared with traditional natural drying, hot-air drying provides a more controllable processing environment and reduces dependence on outdoor weather conditions. The electric heating configuration also avoids the need for a separate fuel-burning heating system inside the dryer.

Working Principle

The drying process can be understood in several steps:

01

Mushroom Preparation

Fresh mushrooms are cleaned, sorted, and prepared according to the intended final product. Depending on the mushroom type and processing requirements, whole mushrooms or sliced mushrooms can be placed on the drying trays.

02

Tray Loading

The prepared mushroom material is evenly distributed across the trays. Avoiding excessive stacking helps improve contact between the product and circulating hot air.

For the larger models, trays can be arranged on the supplied trolleys before being moved into the drying chamber.

03

Electric Heating

After the dryer is started, the electric heating elements generate heat. The heating power varies by model, from 12 kW for MDXH30B to 48 kW for MDXH120B.

04

Hot-Air Circulation

The fans continuously circulate heated air through the drying chamber. Hot air contacts the mushroom material, transfers heat to the product, and promotes moisture evaporation.

05

Moisture Removal

As the mushrooms are heated, water gradually evaporates from the material. Continuous air movement helps carry moisture away from the product and supports the drying process.

06

Drying Completion

The drying process continues until the mushrooms reach the required moisture level and texture for the intended application. Actual drying time depends on factors such as mushroom variety, initial moisture content, slice thickness, loading amount, and desired final moisture level.

Suitable Raw Materials and Mushroom Types

The Electric Heating Mushroom Dryer can be used for a wide range of mushroom processing applications, including:

  • Shiitake mushrooms
  • Oyster mushrooms
  • King oyster mushrooms
  • Enoki mushrooms
  • Wood ear mushrooms
  • Button mushrooms
  • Other edible mushroom varieties

The dryer can also be used for other agricultural materials that require hot-air drying, subject to material characteristics and processing requirements.

For mushroom processing, the material can be dried as whole mushrooms or in sliced form. A mushroom slicer can be installed upstream when uniform slicing is required before drying.

Capacity / Production Scale

The four models are designed for different production scales:

  • MDXH30B:30-tray configuration for small-scale mushroom processing, pilot production, or businesses with relatively limited daily output.
  • MDXH60B:60-tray configuration for growing mushroom processors requiring more batch loading space.
  • MDXH90B:90-tray configuration for medium-scale commercial drying operations.
  • MDXH120B:120-tray configuration for larger processing facilities requiring greater tray capacity and heating power.

The actual dried mushroom output per batch is affected by the type of mushroom, initial moisture content, tray loading density, slice thickness, target moisture content, and drying conditions. Therefore, tray quantity should be used as the primary equipment configuration indicator rather than assuming a fixed kilogram-per-hour output.

Automation Level

The MDXH series is primarily a batch hot-air drying system. Its core drying process is driven by electric heating and forced-air circulation.

The equipment reduces manual drying work compared with traditional sun drying, while operators are still required for:

  • Mushroom preparation
  • Tray loading
  • Trolley movement on applicable models
  • Loading and unloading
  • Monitoring the drying process
  • Final product inspection

For larger mushroom processing projects, the dryer can be incorporated into a semi-automated processing line with upstream slicing, conveying, and downstream packaging equipment.

Integration with Mushroom Processing Line

The Electric Heating Mushroom Dryer can be integrated into a complete mushroom processing workflow.

Upstream Equipment

Depending on the product process, the dryer can connect with:

Fresh Mushroom → Cleaning/Sorting → Mushroom Slicer → Drying Trays → Electric Mushroom Dryer

For sliced mushroom products, a Mushroom Slicer can be installed before the dryer to produce more uniform pieces and improve batch consistency.

For mushroom production facilities processing harvested mushrooms, the dryer can also be connected with sorting, cleaning, and material handling equipment.

Downstream Equipment

After drying, the mushrooms can be transferred to:

Drying → Cooling → Sorting → Weighing → Packaging → Storage

Depending on the final product, dried mushrooms can be packed in bags, vacuum packaging, or other suitable food-grade packaging systems.

This makes the MDXH series suitable for integration into a broader mushroom harvesting and food-processing line rather than operating only as an independent dryer.

Service & FAQ

FAQ

Which model should I choose: 30, 60, 90, or 120 trays?
The appropriate model depends mainly on your required batch loading capacity and production scale. MDXH30B is suitable for smaller operations, while MDXH60B, MDXH90B, and MDXH120B provide progressively larger tray capacities for commercial processing.
What mushrooms can be dried with this machine?

The dryer can be used for common edible mushrooms such as shiitake, oyster mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, enoki, wood ear, and button mushrooms. The suitable drying process depends on the mushroom variety and final product requirements.

Can I dry sliced mushrooms?

Yes. The machine can be used for sliced mushroom products. For more uniform slicing before drying, a mushroom slicing machine can be installed upstream.

How long does it take to dry mushrooms?

There is no single fixed drying time because it depends on mushroom variety, initial moisture content, slice thickness, loading quantity, and required final moisture level. Drying parameters should be determined according to the specific product and processing requirements.

Does the machine require gas, diesel, or steam?

The MDXH series uses electric heating elements as its heat source and operates at 380 V. It does not require a separate gas or diesel burner for heating.

Are the trays and trolleys included?
The configuration depends on the model. MDXH60B includes 4 trolleys, MDXH90B includes 6 trolleys, and MDXH120B includes 8 trolleys. Each tray weighs approximately 1.8 kg, and the listed machine weights do not include tray weight.
Can the dryer be integrated into a complete mushroom processing line?

Yes. It can be positioned after mushroom cleaning, sorting, or slicing equipment and before cooling, sorting, weighing, and packaging equipment, allowing it to become part of a complete mushroom drying and processing workflow.
