Working Principle

The Mushroom Incubation Rack provides a structured environment for organizing inoculated mushroom cultivation bags while the mushroom mycelium colonizes the substrate.

01

Substrate Preparation:

Raw materials such as sawdust, wood chips, agricultural residues, wheat bran, and other suitable ingredients are mixed to prepare the mushroom cultivation substrate.

02

Bagging and Sterilization:

The prepared substrate is filled into cultivation bags and then sterilized using suitable sterilization equipment. The sterilization stage helps reduce unwanted microorganisms before inoculation.

03

Cooling and Inoculation:

After sterilization and sufficient cooling, mushroom spawn is introduced into the substrate under suitable hygienic conditions.

04

Rack Loading:

The inoculated mushroom bags are placed onto the different layers of the Mushroom Incubation Rack. The vertical structure allows more cultivation bags to be stored within the same floor area.

05

Mycelial Incubation:

During incubation, the mushroom mycelium gradually colonizes the prepared substrate. The rack keeps cultivation bags organized and provides a stable storage structure for the incubation room.

06

Transfer to Fruiting:

Once the substrate reaches the required stage of colonization, the cultivation bags can be transferred from the incubation area to the fruiting or growing area according to the mushroom production process.

Suitable Raw Materials and Mushroom Types

The rack is suitable for cultivation bags or containers containing a wide range of mushroom substrates. Common substrate materials include:

  • Sawdust
  • Wood chips
  • Agricultural residues
  • Wheat bran
  • Other plant-based substrate components
  • Prepared mixed mushroom substrates

It can be used in cultivation systems for many edible mushroom varieties, including:

  • Oyster mushroom
  • Shiitake mushroom
  • King oyster mushroom
  • Enoki mushroom
  • Wood ear mushroom
  • Pleurotus species
  • Other mushrooms requiring a controlled mycelial incubation stage

The specific incubation conditions, including temperature, humidity, ventilation, and incubation duration, should be controlled according to the mushroom species and cultivation method.

Capacity / Production Scale

The IRXH001A is a custom-made rack, so there is no fixed universal capacity. The number of cultivation bags it can accommodate depends on the rack dimensions, number of layers, spacing between layers, cultivation bag size, and customer requirements.

Its multi-layer structure allows mushroom growers to make better use of vertical space compared with placing cultivation bags directly on the floor. Multiple racks can be arranged throughout an incubation room to create a standardized cultivation layout.

The system can be used for:

  • Small mushroom farms
  • Commercial mushroom farms
  • Indoor mushroom cultivation facilities
  • Medium-scale cultivation workshops
  • Large-scale industrial mushroom production

For larger projects, rack dimensions and layout can be planned according to the available cultivation-room area and required production volume.

Automation Level

Automation Level: Passive / Manual Handling

The Mushroom Incubation Rack itself does not require electricity, compressed air, or a control system. Its primary function is to provide stable multi-level storage for inoculated cultivation bags.

However, it can be integrated into a more automated mushroom production system. For example, automated shelf loading and unloading equipment can be used to transfer cultivation baskets or materials between handling areas and rack systems, reducing manual labor in larger facilities.

Integration with Mushroom Production Equipment

The Mushroom Incubation Rack is normally installed after the sterilization and inoculation stages and before the fruiting stage.

Upstream equipment can include:

  • Sawdust Crusher– prepares wood-based raw materials
  • Substrate Mixer– evenly mixes mushroom cultivation substrate
  • Mushroom Bagging Machine– fills prepared substrate into cultivation bags
  • Sterilization Rack– organizes bags during sterilization
  • Mushroom Sterilizer– sterilizes the prepared substrate
  • Mushroom Inoculation Machine– introduces mushroom spawn into sterilized substrate

Incubation-room equipment can include:

  • HVAC System– helps control temperature and air conditions
  • Humidification System– supports suitable environmental humidity when required
  • Mushroom Shelf Loading Machine– supports efficient rack loading in automated production systems
  • Mushroom Shelf Unloading Machine– assists with material transfer after incubation

Downstream equipment can include:

  • Fruiting Room / Growing Room
  • Mushroom Growing Racks
  • Mushroom Harvesting Equipment
  • Mushroom Slicer– for downstream fresh mushroom processing
  • Mushroom Dryer– for drying harvested mushrooms

A typical production workflow is:

Raw Material Preparation → Substrate Mixing → Bagging → Sterilization → Cooling → Inoculation → Mycelial Incubation → Fruiting → Harvesting → Processing

Service & FAQ

Installation & Service

Because the Mushroom Incubation Rack is a passive structure, it generally does not require electrical commissioning.

For customized projects, service can include:

  • Rack size and configuration design
  • Cultivation-room layout recommendations
  • Installation guidance
  • Assembly instructions
  • Commissioning support where applicable
  • Operator training for rack loading and handling
  • Technical support
  • Replacement components when applicable
  • After-sales service

The rack can be customized according to the customer’s cultivation bag dimensions, available room height, required number of layers, production scale, and preferred material.

FAQ

What is a Mushroom Incubation Rack used for?
It is used to store and organize inoculated mushroom cultivation bags during the mycelial incubation stage. It helps make better use of vertical space and keeps cultivation materials organized.
What is the difference between an Incubation Rack and a Sterilization Rack?

A Sterilization Rack is mainly used to hold and transfer substrate bags during the sterilization process, while a Mushroom Incubation Rack is used after inoculation to organize cultivation bags while mushroom mycelium colonizes the substrate.

What material is the rack made from?

The rack is generally manufactured using stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant materials. The final material and structure can be customized according to the customer’s application and production environment.

How many mushroom bags can one rack hold?

There is no fixed capacity because the IRXH001A is custom-made. Capacity depends on the rack dimensions, number of layers, spacing, and cultivation bag size. The configuration can be designed according to the customer’s required production volume.

Can the rack be used for different mushroom species?

Yes. It can be used for various edible mushrooms, including oyster mushroom, shiitake, king oyster, enoki, wood ear, and other mushrooms that require a mycelial incubation stage.

Can the rack be used in an automated mushroom farm?
Yes. Although the rack itself is passive, it can be integrated into semi-automated or automated production systems using shelf loading and unloading machines, material-handling equipment, HVAC systems, and other cultivation equipment.
How should I customize the right incubation rack?

The main factors include cultivation-room dimensions, room height, mushroom bag size, required number of layers, aisle width, production capacity, and handling method. Providing these details allows the rack configuration to be matched to the complete mushroom production system.
