The FTXH200B is a more fully specified electric-heating model with pneumatic agitation and an external sterile-air filtration system, while the FTXH320A provides a larger 300 L working volume and uses steam heating, making it suitable for mushroom production facilities with an existing steam supply.

Working Principle

The fermentation tank provides a closed vessel for preparing and cultivating liquid microbial cultures under controlled conditions.

01

Preparation of Culture Medium

The required liquid culture medium is prepared from appropriate nutrients and water according to the cultivation formula. The medium is introduced into the fermentation tank through the designated inlet.

For mushroom applications, the exact culture-medium formulation should be selected according to the target mushroom species and spawn-production process.

02

Tank Sealing and Preparation

The vertical tank is designed as a closed structure. The FTXH200B uses a SUS304 double-layer tank, while the FTXH320A uses a SUS304 tank and head structure.

The hygienic stainless-steel construction and polished inner surfaces facilitate cleaning and preparation before fermentation.

03

Heating

The two models use different heating methods:

  • FTXH200B:electric heating with a rated heating power of 12 kW and automatic temperature control.
  • FTXH320A:steam heating, suitable for facilities with an available steam source.

Heating brings the culture medium to the required process temperature.

04

Sterile Air Supply

During liquid culture production, air quality is important. The FTXH200B is equipped with a double external filtration system using a 5-inch filter cartridge with 0.01 μm filtration precision.

The tank also has a dedicated breathing port, helping manage gas exchange while supporting the controlled vessel environment.

05

Agitation

The FTXH200B uses pneumatic agitation to keep the liquid culture medium mixed during the process.

Continuous or controlled agitation can help maintain a more uniform culture environment throughout the tank.

06

Inoculation

The tank provides a dedicated inoculation port for introducing the required microbial or mushroom culture under controlled operating conditions.

07

Culture Observation and Sampling

The FTXH200B is equipped with observation ports and a sampling port, allowing operators to monitor the culture and take samples during the process.

08

Liquid Spawn Discharge

After the required fermentation/culture process is completed, the liquid culture can be discharged through the dedicated outlet and transferred to the next stage of mushroom inoculation.

Suitable Raw Materials and Mushroom Applications

Unlike a mushroom substrate mixer or bagging machine, the fermentation tank does not primarily process solid cultivation materials such as sawdust or corn cob. Its main application is liquid culture and liquid spawn preparation. Potential culture-media components may include:
Water
Soluble nutrients
Carbohydrate sources
Nitrogen sources
Mineral nutrients
Other ingredients specified by the mushroom liquid-culture formula

Capacity / Production Scale & Automation Level

FTXH200B – 200 L Fermentation Tank

The FTXH200B has a 200 L nominal tank volume and an actual culture volume of approximately 160 L. Its 12 kW electric heating system, automatic temperature control, pneumatic agitation and dedicated filtration system make it suitable for controlled liquid culture production.

Its compact dimensions of approximately Ø650 mm maximum outer diameter × 1550 mm height can be useful for small and medium-scale mushroom spawn production facilities.

FTXH320A – 320 L Fermentation Tank

The FTXH320A has a 320 L design volume and 300 L working volume, providing a larger batch size for commercial liquid spawn production.

Its steam-heating configuration can be particularly useful for mushroom factories that already operate a central steam system.

Automation Level

The equipment provides a controlled fermentation process, with the FTXH200B specifically equipped with automatic temperature control and pneumatic agitation.

It should be regarded as process-controlled fermentation equipment, rather than a completely unmanned liquid spawn production line. Additional pumps, sensors, controllers or transfer systems can be incorporated according to the customer’s production requirements.

Integration with Mushroom Production Equipment

The fermentation tank is generally positioned in the liquid spawn preparation section of a mushroom production facility.

Upstream Equipment

It can be integrated with:

  • Water Treatment System
  • Culture Medium Preparation Tank
  • Substrate Mixerfor other cultivation processes
  • Sterilization Equipment
  • Steam Generator
  • Air Compressor
  • Sterile Air Filtration System

Downstream Equipment

After liquid culture preparation, the fermented liquid spawn can be transferred to:

  • Liquid Spawn Inoculation Machine
  • Mushroom Bagging and Inoculation Line
  • Mushroom Growing Bottles
  • Incubation Room

Liquid Spawn Storage/Transfer System

A liquid spawn workflow can be arranged as:
Water & Nutrient Preparation → Culture Medium Preparation → Sterilization/Heating → Fermentation Tank → Liquid Spawn Culture

For example:
Fermentation Tank → Liquid Spawn Inoculation Machine → Mushroom Bags/Bottles → Incubation → Fruiting

FAQ

What is a fermentation tank used for in mushroom cultivation?
It is primarily used for liquid culture and liquid spawn production. It provides a closed vessel where the culture medium can be heated, mixed and supplied with filtered air under controlled conditions.
What is the difference between FTXH200B and FTXH320A?

The FTXH200B has a 200 L nominal volume and approximately 160 L actual culture volume, uses electric heating and includes pneumatic agitation plus a specified 0.01 μm external filtration system.

The FTXH320A has a larger 320 L design volume and 300 L working volume and uses steam heating, making it suitable for facilities with an existing steam supply.

Can the fermentation tank produce liquid mushroom spawn?

Yes. The equipment is designed for microbial fermentation and can be incorporated into mushroom liquid spawn production systems, provided the appropriate culture medium, strain and process parameters are used.

Which mushrooms can use liquid spawn produced with this equipment?

Potential applications include oyster, shiitake, king oyster, enoki, lion’s mane and wood ear mushrooms, as well as other species compatible with liquid culture technology. The exact process should be confirmed according to the mushroom strain and culture formula.

Does the FTXH200B include temperature control?
Yes. The FTXH200B uses electric heating with a 12 kW heating power and automatic temperature control.
How does the FTXH200B provide sterile air?
The FTXH200B is equipped with a double external filtration system using a 5-inch filter cartridge with a specified filtration precision of 0.01 μm, together with a dedicated breathing port.
Can the fermentation tank connect directly to a liquid inoculation machine?

Yes. It can be incorporated upstream of a Liquid Spawn Inoculation Machine. After the liquid culture reaches the required process condition, it can be transferred to the inoculation system for mushroom bags or bottles, creating a more continuous liquid-spawn production workflow.
