Corn Cob Crusher for Mushroom Substrate Production

Corn Cob Crusher is a professional agricultural waste crushing machine designed for edible mushroom substrate preparation. It uses a hammer crushing structure with replaceable screens to process corn cobs, corn stalks, soybean stalks and other biomass materials into uniform particles, helping mushroom farms improve substrate preparation efficiency, reduce manual processing costs and provide stable raw materials for mushroom cultivation.

The machine is mainly used in the first stage of mushroom substrate production. By converting hard agricultural residues into suitable particle sizes, it improves material mixing performance, moisture absorption and fermentation quality for bag cultivation systems.

Working Principle

The working process of the Corn Cob Crusher includes four main steps:
01

Raw Material Feeding

Corn cobs and other agricultural residues are fed into the crushing chamber through the feeding inlet.

Applicable materials include:

Corn cob

Corn stalk

Soybean stalk

Agricultural crop residues

The machine is designed for dry biomass materials with good crushing performance.

02

High-Speed Hammer Crushing

After entering the chamber, materials are impacted by high-speed rotating hammers.

The main shaft rotates at:

4000 rpm

The centrifugal force generated by the rotating rotor drives the hammer movement. Large materials are repeatedly impacted, cut and crushed until reaching the required size.

03

Screening and Particle Size Control

The internal replaceable screen determines the final output size.

Available screen openings:

6mm – 20mm

By changing the screen, customers can adjust the crushed material according to different mushroom substrate formulas.

For example:

Coarser particles → better air permeability

Smaller particles → better water retention and mixing performance

04

Material Discharge

After reaching the required particle size, processed corn cob material is discharged from the outlet.

Complete production flow:
Corn Cob Feeding → Crushing → Substrate Mixing → Moisture Adjustment → Bag Filling → Sterilization → Mushroom Cultivation

Suitable Raw Materials and Mushroom Applications

Applicable Raw Materials

The Corn Cob Crusher is mainly designed for agricultural biomass processing.
It can process:
Corn cobs
Corn stalks
Soybean stalks
Dry crop residues
Other fibrous agricultural waste

After crushing, these materials become suitable carbon sources for mushroom substrate formulas.

Suitable Mushroom Cultivation

Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus)
Corn cob is widely used in oyster mushroom substrate because of its porous structure and good moisture retention ability. Crushed corn cob improves substrate mixing and mycelium growth conditions.
Shiitake Mushroom (Lentinula edodes)
For bag cultivation, corn cob particles can be combined with sawdust and nutritional additives to create balanced substrate formulas.
Wood Ear Mushroom (Auricularia auricula-judae)
Processed agricultural residues can provide suitable physical structure for wood ear mushroom cultivation.
Other Edible Fungi
The equipment can also support:
King oyster mushroom
Reishi mushroom
Other agricultural waste-based mushroom cultivation projects
